Okydoky - here goes :)
Yes, you can put nitrous on it, and even a small amount (25 bhp) will greatly assist rapid take-off as the engine will generate significant amounts of low-end torque - which V8's are quite good at anyway.
There is no colouring. Nitrous oxide breaks down into nitrogen and oxygen inside the engine. That, combined with the additional fuel also injected (to stop the engine running lean) burns in very much the same way as a regualr petrol/air mixture.
As for smoke, a naughty but effective way is to have a small tank with pump (washer bottle) in the front of the car, into which you add diesel. The diesel is then sent along a copper pipe to an small hole in the exhaust pipe. Providing the exhaust is hot, you will get massive amount of smoke this way.
You could also simply use fog-fluid (as used in fog machines) which at least would be less nasty - and I think you CAN get coloured smoke if you really must.
As for damaging engines, sensible use of nitrous will NOT harm an engine, running lean harms engines - and getting too greedy with a weak engine. Most V8's in reasonable condition can comfoprtyably take 50% more power than stock **IF** you use a progressive controller and a quaslity kit (NOT NOS / ZX / etc) You MUST use a pulsoid - which is a solenoid DESIGNED to be pulsed - they last a lifetime.
the industrial solenoids the others use are NOT suitable for pusling - and start to leak - which is why they sell "repair kits"!!! What they doi not say, is that when the solenoid starts to leak, your engine starts to run lean. Bye bye pistons.
So in short, yes you can add nitrous, but buy decent kit - NOT chromed plated crap that just looks pretty.

Yes you can put nitrous on it. But why. That motor is capable of tearing down nitrous motors all day long. That motor could take a pretty big shot as well. Just make sure you have a wot switch or your 15000 dollar investment will go down the drain. As far as the flames go, you could probably wire in one of those flamethrower kits to your nitrous activation circut and have a colored led make the flame look colored, but you would have to get creative with the fuel system to supply fuel to it without taking any away from that big thirsty carb.
However, I probably just wasted my time cause a 70 chevelle true ss car with the biggest and badest crate motor gm offers is a gearheads dream and would probably know all this and not make reference to 2fast 2furious!

Why would you ruin such a classic car with nitrous? Unless you're taking it down the drag stip only there is no real need for it. Saying you want to make it like somthing you saw in a movie is really telling me that the car should be given to someone who actually would take care of it and keep it an american classic and not ruin the workmanship with something like Nitrous. Theres no replacement, for displacment.

Hey, you know what I have noticed.... You ask about this imaginary car a LOT in Y/A but the description keeps changing. For example, three weeks ago it had a Holley four barrel carb but in every other post it's fuel injected. Also, it changes from a 1970 to a 72 model in one post. (Let's not even get in to your "Boss") Finally, the engine size appears to fluctuate depending on the day. So...does Lego make Chevy Chevelles?
So you know what all this makes me think? It makes me think that you, my dear friend, are full of it! I think the users of Y/A would enjoy seeing a picture of this beast that you are obviously VERY proud of. Would you care to attach one?

Leave the nitrous alone. The damage you do to an engine out weighs the benefits.
