just yesterday i decided i'd DIY my alternator in my Toyota. there were only 4 bolts total to get it out, but i had to remove 5 other parts to get to those bolts. despite having a vast array of tools, getting any sort of wrench on the toughest bolt of them all was a royal pain. it's as if the car's engineer had 7 joints per finger and thought, "well, this will be easy for someone to get to!"
when i got the last bolt out it fell. it fell into the unknown void, similar to the one washing machines send socks to. my nerves have calmed since yesterday, and when it stops raining, i'll spend 3 hours tracking that miserable bolt, break two fingers so they'll bend in the direction the car's designer intended, and carry on.

We had to replace the water pump, get the spring fixed on the rear driver's side, front end alignment, rotate the tires, replace the brakes, replace plugs and wires, and now we think the head gasket is leaking. We do all the work ourselves. Poor Explorer (or Exploder, as we call it) just isn't what it used to be. :-(

The tube from the air conditioner had to be reconnected. But the NEXT repair is on a broken strut from hitting a kerb really hard. I turn corners without actually intending to now.

I do all of the work on my car myself. I did the brakes on my girlfriend's car last month. Since then just routine maintenance, lube, oil and filters.

last repair on my 69 Ford was the fuel filter, my brother and i bypassed the canister fuel filter. then put an inline fuel filter on. then we had to get a new canister for the old filter cause we stripped the threads on it. and we now have 2 fuel filters on that pickup.
