And become a full-time artist? I dream about it all of the time. My current job is ok...I don't make much money, but it does help out our family income. We could 'get by' on just my husband's income....no extras though. And our daughter will be going to college in less than 2 years. BUT the artist in me is dying to GET OUT! Your opinion, please!

Work is highly overrated, just quit regardless.

Don't quit your day job just yet unless you are already making money for being an artist and some savings put away. Do it on the side. When you know you're secure enough to quit current job then, do it!. --Nick

Start off Part time- see how that works out and if it gets to be more successful than you though then by all means yes. But right now i would say hold off from completely quitting iunless you have a bunch of $$ in reserves.

since you have a family..you might still want to consider keeping your job unless if you feel being an artist is financially secure, you should go on with your dream..all the best!

If you want to become an artist then apply for those kind of jobs before you quit your job. If that is what you truly want!

well only if it is going to help pay the bill and buy the extra's that you want. If not then do it on the side till you make the money to quit.
