Michael Owen now or five years ago? If you're talking now, then it isn't even a question. Rooney has the body, and the right foot of a good striker. And of course, he's healthy. Owen has the heart though. He never stops, and never quits. Five years ago Owen, when he was healthy, against today's Rooney. That would be a toss-up. More talent for Rooney, but more grit and determination for Owen. So which do you value most?

Michael Owen when he doesnt get hurt... He's very very talented, but lately being plagued with injuries, he could be falling behind.. Rooney is an amazing player when 1) he isnt lazy, and 2) he doesnt run his mouth.... If he can keep his mouth under control, and focus on the game, he's got amazing talent.. I think if Sir Ferguson can get Owen, Rooney, and C Ronaldo on the same team, he'd have a power house.. I also think Sir Ferguson should put the rubberband a little tighter around Rooneys lips! LOL

I like Owen's style and energy. He plays with his heart on his sleeve and works like the very devil. Unfortunately, he often plays with his leg in a cast. His injury proneness is a problem and that's a great concern.
Rooney, the punk of 2 years ago, has steadily grown and matured. Sir Alex, wise old man that he is, has taught young Wayne some self control and Rooney is developing nicely. But with this niceness, he still has toughness. One might think this year, a bit of a goal drought for the boy, he would get frustrated and run amok, amassing red cards like mad. But no, he's held it all in check and contributed mightily to Manchester United.
So, all-in-all, I'd pick Wayne. I like Owen but the injuries make him always questionable. Not mentally or spiritually, but physically.

owen, without a doubt. Rooney is overrated, look at the stats. He is supposed to be one of the worlds best strikers, but Lampard, a midfielder has scored more goals in the Premier League

Wayne Rooney is a very complete forward, younger and even though his weak point is his exploding character I think he can solve you a game in just one play. I'll take Wayne

Wayne Rooney because he is the best footballer in the world. He is a real magician and a wonderkid. Still young and still capable of improving more.
