Six of one half-a-dozen of another. A mansion is often defined as a "large house" built for the wealthy. Therefore, the nature of the dwelling is defined more by the inhabitants than the structure. The idle rich live in mansions while middle class live in large houses. To complicate your life more, in VERY wealthy communities they often have another category - manse - to indicate a wealthy but not true blue blood owner.

traditionally, the version between a house and a mansion become no longer the size or style of rooms. that's in accordance with whether there become a library in the abode or no longer. Mansions had libraries, homes did no longer.

well if i may guess this for you , a large house is simply a house with 3 or more bedrooms, two baths and a study ,with a large kitchen ,
