It effects people differently. However, your genetic pool seems to be able to tolerate the alcohol abuse. You should consult a doctor and have your liver checked out. Cirrhosis of the liver is something you do not want.

A close high school friend had his first liver transplant at about age 40. Is now on dialysis. His father, probably, 80's drank just as much and to my knowledge, no major health problems, but has missed out on a lot because of being too lit to know what is going on.

You have to ask yourself why you're drinking. Do you do it because you enjoy the taste? Are you drinking alone? Do you drink because you're bored?

It does sound like more than the average person should be drinking on a daily basis and you have to watch your liver. Your body needs 1 hour to to process 1 drink (no matter what it is).

Talk to a couple of doctors and maybe a therapist to get some professional opinions.

That much alcohol is bad for your liver and pancreas. An inflamed pancreas is torture and pancreatic cancer will kill you quickly.

Overconsumption of alcohol such as you are doing also tends to feminize men. Among other things it causes gynecomastia, the development of breasts in men.

Why would you want that? Read here, especially the fifth paragraph http://www.gsmcweb.com/?p=47

I think you ask because you have some concern.

It does not matter if you are a functioning addict or not. ...my dad is a functioning addict of alcohol and it is not cute to be a drunk on your 70th b-day ..and piss on yourself in front of your children.

My sibling and my mom were afforded everything we ever wanted growing up except a sober Dad.

If you have to ask then you know the answer... Last thing that I still carry to this very day. When I was 10 yo., my dad asked me if he drank too much because my grand mom was chewing him out about it. ...I told him No because I did not want to hurt his feelings. When I tried to take it back and tell him the truth it was too late because I already told him what he wanted to hear. Alcoholism affects everyone ...EVERYONE it is not all about you.
