he's a great player, no doubt about it. i think it's very possible they retire his number. 365 goals, 496 assists, 861 points...not too shabby. he was always a major contributer to the team, and i'm sure they appreciated the time he was there and are thankful for what he did for the team.
(oh and landman...it's not that funny considering he's now on nashville, one of the few teams better than anaheim)

If they don't, they aren't very smart. He had an amazing career in Anaheim, and if they didn't retire it, they don't deserve to be in the NHL at all. Paul Kariya had an amazing career around his long time teammate, Teemu Selanne. Kariya would set up Selanne, or vice-versa. Kariya got knocked out once, completely got leveled by Scott Stevens back on the Devils. I remember when he went off the ice for awhile, he came back to the bench. Everyone was up, and cheering him on, and couldn't believe he returned after the hit. He managed to score a goal in that game, and it was amazing. He helped lead the Ducks to the playoffs and gave them a lot of publicity, so yes, his number should be retired.

No.
Paul Kariya just played in Anaheim a couple of weeks ago and he was booed everytime that he touched the puck. His numbers are being surpassed by Teemu Selanne, so he not hold very many team records when the time would come to make a decision on retiring his number.

He definitely deserves it. When i was younger i was a huge mighty ducks fan (not just the movies and cartoon, the hockey team) even though i live in ny and i am a huge rangers fan now. Kariya and Selanne were like my role models. I think they were one of the best 1-2 punch cominations of all time. Kariya was a great leader and person and almost led the ducks all the way. Of the duck's short history, Kariya, along w/ selanne, will be the first to have their numbers, 9 and 8, retired.

That is a good question. I say Yes. He was a major player on their team for like 9 seasons. I do think it's funny how he took a huge pay cup when he left The Ducks for Colorado only because he wanted a cup. Now Anaheim is a powerhouse and a favorite to win the cup.

They better. Kariya was one of the best players they ever had. And he will always be loved in Anaheim. He contributed so much to the team. If they don't retire his number than they are stupid. And oh yea...for that person who said he hasn't played with them for awhile. It doesn't matter how long ago he played, it matters how many seasons he played for the team. And he played more seasons with Anaheim than any other team he has been on.

Oh yes definitely. PK will eventually come back to Anaheim when he's past his prime already and retire a Duck. His personality will lead him to that path.

i really don't think so, cause he was there for 9 years and that's not really that long to have some players number retired from one team. yes he was great with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks back in the day but i really don't see it happening.
