Hi reader, and welcome to an adult conversation as it unfolded just the other day:
After 5 years together, John and I had gotten into that "comfort zone' in our relationship which I liked to think of as cozy and safe(kind of like an old shoe!) There were no more surprises and life stretched out before us.............. endlessly! That was, before yesterday. Let me tell you what happened.
I had arrived home to find him in his usual position, sprawled on the couch drinking a beer and watching the "Speed Channel"(ugh!) He jumped up as soon as I got in and this alone was cause enough for alarm! It started with "Honey, I think we need to talk" and then the **** literally hit the fan! He told me that we had"grown apart"(must of happened while he was vegetating on the couch!) and that he had become "restless"(Huh?)He went on to say that although he hadn't planned it that way (humph!)he had begun seeing someone else."Honey, you KNOW I still love you, but things around here were getting too predictable"he said. "PREDICTABLE" I yelled, "YOU MEAN LIKE YOU SCRATCHING YOUR *** THREE TIMES AND BURPING BEFORE YOU DRINK YOURSELF INTO A COMA EVERY NIGHT?" "Sure" he said "why don't you yell a little louder, please... I don't think the guy in the COMA down the street heard you!! This is just ONE of the reasons why I fell into this thing with Judy, you.. always bitching! "Whoa, whoa, whoa.......my BEST FRIEND Judy is who you have been seeing?" This was bad AND on my way over here, I stepped in gum! What is up with the universe?! I suddenly thought of him and Judy together and began laughing hysterically. John took it all wrong, and thought I was upset,"Honey I'm telling you all this so we can work it out, make it good again"
I was now on a roll "HAH", I ranted. "now.... what part of your explaination was supposed to make me feel good? He was now looking contrite and I was starting to visualize converting his office into a prayer room, a little sancuary where I could meditate and be at peace. No more boring, beer guzzling, *** scratching,lying s.o.b to clutter up my life! Yes, everything happens for a reason, for sure!Goodbye psycho. Hello freedom!!!!
