There are several ways to determine when you are ovulating.
1. Basal thermometer: Available at any drugstore -- different from a regular thermometer. You have to take your temp at the same time every morning before you get up. Don't move around much before or during the temp taking as it can affect the results. Do this every day and when you see a big jump in your temp, that means you've ovulated.
2. Buy an ovulation kit from any drugstore and use it according to the directions on the package.
3. Cervical mucus: Right around the time of ovulation, your cervical mucus will become very thin and stretchy (think egg whites). It is thinning out to make it easier for sperm to swim through it. This is the best time to have sex. Even if you don't technically ovulate for a day or two, sperm can live in a woman's body for up to 72 hours. Better than having sex right after you ovulated is having sex right BEFORE you ovulate, because that way, the sperm is right there, ready and waiting.
4. Some women feel a sharp cramp in their side when they ovulate. They actually feel the egg bursting forth from the ovary. This is called middleschmerz (don't know if I spelled that correctly). My girlfriend gets this every month. I never have and probably never will.
Hope this helps and good luck!

I had a terrible time trying to figure out when I was ovulating. Books and articles always make a menstrual cycle sound like some sort of set scientific formula that applies to every woman. Well, it doesn't. Every cycle is different, and you can try a variety of methods to predict when ovulation will occur.
I finally got sick of taking my temperature and the other methods, so I bought a Clearblue Fertility Monitor. I bought it on Ebay for $85.00 with the test sticks included. It is so easy. You hit a little button on it to tell it when your period starts, then you look at the monitor every morning to see what to do. The first few days you will do nothing, then several days later, it will tell you to test your urine. You test your urine every morning until you get the peak ovulation sign. You have sex for those two days. That's it.
Don't worry about the semen coming out after sex (that is what is coming out along with a little CM). The semen just carries the sperm up to the cervix, then it runs out when it's job is over. You can boost up your hips with a pillow after sex for a 1/2 hour to help it stay close to your cervix, but it will still run out as it is leftover and not necessary anymore.
Good luck!

It doesn't all come out after intercourse, so it's not necessar to do this but I understand what you mean. Put a pillow under your buttocks so that your hips are elevated and lay down for a while right after sex, so that you don't stand up and have it leak out.
You can buy an ovulation kit, which you use similar to a pregnancy test that tells you when you are ovulating so you'll know for sure!
This has some info on how to know when you're ovulating, I think it's a little easier to understand than some other things I've read:

This has a good calendar for when you are most likely fertile & ovulating:

Ok what you can do is go too www.babycenter.com and type in your start of your last period and it will give you around 10 days that you are possibly fertile. You should have sex around every other day. Another way is to count yourself. its average is 14 days but sometiems it can be before or after. Start always from the first day of your last period. but when the blood starts, not just a little bit on your TP. Watch your CM too. When you are really "wet" and it looks like water and feels like water, you are ovulating. Or when it actually looks like white snot i call it. ha! check by actually sticking your finger up and looking. It works best. And whne you are done having sex, his semen might slip out but honey, there is a lot already in there so don't worry about that!! Just stay laying down for at least 15 min and you'll be fine. Good luck

go to fertilityfriend.com and start charting your cycle they will give you an approximate ovulation date and fertility dates based on your information they will also tell you the best times to have sex to conceive and for the most part when you see eggwhite type cm you will ovulate within 24 hours you can also chart your bbt-basal body temp which is your temp first thing in the morning without getting up out of bed when you see a dip after your period that tends to be a sign of ovulation the web site will have much more information about all this and more for you to read about and as far as stopping cm from coming out after sex i cant be of any service there sorry good luck hope this helps!!!

Try getting the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" it explains how to chart and find out when you ovulate. It's an awesome book, when paired with a digital basal thermometer and fertilityfriend.com great things have been known to happen. Good luck!
