Definitely the Les Paul Jr....I had a 1964 Melody Maker & while it was a good guitar, it was one of Gibsons budget models and no where near the quality of the Les Paul Jr that my cousin had!!

I'm a Fender Strat man from the 60's, never was overly impressed with Gibson or the Post-CBS Fenders. I'm spoiled, I play a '64 Fender Strat, Sunburst, Rosewood, just sweet.

I GOT MY 13 YR OLD DAUGHTER THE LES PAUL JUNIOR
SHE IS 5 FOOT 5 AND CANT REACH AROUND THE FRET BOARD...TRY A DAISY OR PEAVEY RAPTOR...I HAVE A JIMMY PAGE LES PAUL AND IT IS FRONT HEAVY, IT WANTS TO DROP ALL THE TIME....24 FRET IBANEZ OR FENDER STRAT ARE GOOD FOR ADULTS..GIBSON SG IS HARD TO PLAY AT THE LAST FRETS BECAUSE THE CUT OUT ISNT BIG ENOUGH

Neither. They are both crap-guitars for little girls. If you can't afford the Les Paul or SG, get a Fender Telecaster, preferably USA but Japanese is lighter and good too. Fender always made better low-price guitars than Gibson.

I'll give all these other Jamokes $5 if they go find Pat Travers and tell him the Melody Maker is / was Gibson's "Budget line" and to be played / owned by "Little Girls". ......JEEZ!!!!!
