You need to go into the air force if you want to become an astronaut.

My suggestion: Undergrad at the Air Force Academy and then a PhD in aeronautical engineering at MIT.
But I'm not an expert on this. My suggestion is to look up the backgrounds of people who actually are astronauts. It should be easy to find on the Web

I think you have to be in the Air Force, maybe even a pilot. Ask a recruiter.
