Tell your mom to shut up, tell the guy sorry but no, and go after the guy you want. This isnt the middle ages where the daughter of a family could be given away against her will.

date hte person u like. tell ur mom sorry but ur the one dating the 'someone', not her.... u r ur own person and should decide who u wanna be with, not the other way around. tell ur mom u respect and appreciate it but ti wont make u happy

well .. it depends ... if you and are mom is really close you could just tell her it straight to the face .. she'll understand ..
but if you're the kind of person who worries about her feelings then you can just ask her how she feels about this person and you can just tell her that you don't like their personality or something !

Approach the mother (or the boy) yourself and say that your mother was mistaken. Be polite about it, but say that you aren't interested at this time.
