The bad news, and then the good news. When you are told there will also be good news, you can kind of look forward to it while you are getting the bad news. If you get the good news first, it would be even more devasting/let down to get the bad news.

Just the GOOD news there is plenty of that around, sadly little of it makes it out so others know about it. To read the papers you would think there be nothing but bad happening. Save the negative news, I will open up the local paper if I really need some of that . O_O

The bad news. because then the good news will help compensate a little for the bad news. if you hear the good first and then the bad, you will forget the good and focus more over the bad... vice versa.

I think I would rather have the good news first. Because if you told me some HORRIBLE news before some GOOD news, I would be too upset and distraught to even properly hear and/or comprehend or appreciate the following good news.
Plus good news first, and then bad news... I can be happy and then receive the bad news and my reaction wouldn't be too dramatic... it might just be like "oh darn, really? well at least _____ (insert good news here)"
At least for me... I'm a die-hard optimist...
Take it easy,
miR :)

the bad news, it always helps to have something there to comfort you (like good news) after you hear bad news and why would you want to ruin a good moment with bad news?
