I think it did happen, but i dont think that it would have been the way it was portrayed (with the gimp who leads the 80 foot tall man and his band of weirdos to fight).
The thing that got me was the wizards and that big goliath thing that got its head sut off.
I really like this movie!!! I cannot wait till it comes out on DVD!!

Yeah it's a true story but the Spartans fought a army of only
250,000 not 1,000,000 like the film says and in the 3 days
the battle lasted the Spartans killed between 20,000- 25,000
Persians so that works out at each Spartan killed between
66-83 men.

The 300 Spartans did not win the battle portrayed in the movie...as portrayed in the movie. They did kill thousands upon thousands of Persians and wave after wave including many of the immortals just like in the movie but were killed after three days of fighting. This amazing stand rallied the rest of the Spartan army and other Greeks to fight the Persians and that army defeated the Persians later on in other battles.

The movie was based off of the graphic novel by Frank Miller ("Sin City"), which was based off of the Battle of Thermopylae back in 480 BC. Though the movie is based off some of the history, it also has points that are not historically accurate. The movie never claims to be though, so there should be not problem. It was based of a graphic novel. King Leonidas of Sparta, leads 300 of his guard, made up of men that all have children (to carry on their line, to join up with a few other Greek soldiers and hold off the Persian advance for as long as possible. They manage to hold them off for 3 days before a traitorous Greek gives King Xerxes the hidden trail that would allow them to surround the Greek defenders. They know of the advancing Persians on the trail, as other Greeks retreat, the Spartans stand ready to defend as Spartans never retreat, and Spartans never surrender(as goes Spartan law). The movie 300 is a excellent piece of film and is one of the best movies in recent years (definitely the movie to beat in 2007). I've seen it 4 times already and plan on seening it again Friday.

Do your study. have you ever study Vampire Academy? i will assert no longer seeming you think of it rather is something like Twilight. As others have stated the only ingredient they have in effortless is they are approximately vampires, besides the actuality that VA's vampires are completely distinctive than the sparkly ones. we could touch on some bases we could... considerable character: Rose Hathaway is a sturdy, kickass character. She's sassy and has large strains (heavily all her strains are gold). And below each and all the mindset she's a worrying, dependable guy or woman. All she needs to do is safeguard her perfect buddy who's the final in between the royal families from the evil vampires, Strigoi, who opt for to kill the Moroi, the best vampires. besides the actuality that think of approximately that adult men, you would be killing of the perfect meal you adult men have! Little humor there. She trains dedicatedly to grow to be a father or mom so she would be assigned to guard her perfect buddy. She's no longer some weakling. regardless of being long gone for 2 years she's nonetheless the perfect in her type. the story: that's no longer a narrative approximately love or a love triangle. standard that's rather a narrative approximately friendship. the whole tale revolves around Rose and her perfect buddy Lissa. How they triumph over each and all the stumbling blocks of their way. there is love thrown in in spite of the indisputable fact that it's not the main concentration. the story isn't based on it. there is numerous action, i'm no longer conversing approximately love action besides the actuality that there is a few of that. There are combat scenes and assaults that reason numerous emotional injury for the characters interior the story (and the readers). And previously you desperate to take your next assertion to the actuality that it rather is noted as Vampire Academy lots of the series would not even ensue on the academy. It happens throughout, Montana, Pennsylvania, Russia, Las Vegas, etc. So to boot the actuality that this series is badass we are additionally getting numerous holiday time.

Yes it's a true story. However the monsters that the Persians used were not real. The Spartans lost though becasue they were outnumbered.
The director screened the film for historians before it was released and said that none of them objected to it.
It was an outstanding film. Go see it whenever you get the chance.

They don't exactly win. They hold them off long enough for the rest of the Greeks to get together and eventually give the Persians a good kicking.
But classics nut, comic book geek and Gerald Butler fan that I am I'm looking forward to seeing this.

It's true and not true. It did happen in a way but they said in an interview it wasn't exactly 1,000,000 Persians. It was a fantastic movie, I definitely put it in my top 5 favorites. Go see it when you get the chance, you won't be disappointed.

Yes it's true, overwhelming odds of winning I know but it happened in the year 480BC and I'll be going to see it.
Better battle scenes than the likes of Lord of the rings imho.
