The materials have already been purchased, and I was wondering, how much I can expect to pay to have the work done? Is the labor billed by the hour, or per square and per window? It is ten windows, one of which is 9X5, the rest are considerably smaller, and 13 sq. of siding. Also 150 ft. of soffit and facia. The home is a single story ranch all straight cuts (except the gables of course) and no inside corners. there is nothing difficult about this one - should be easy.

Labor is figured differently by different contractors. Some go by sq ft (or square/100sqft) on siding, some (mostly union) go by hour. Seeing as its only a ranch, I wouldn't hire anyone, I'd do it myself! I am assuming it is stock vinyl siding, I could be wrong though. Vinyl is so easy to put up. You can rent the nailer from home depot and with the help from one person, maybe 2, you could do this job easy! If you need an instruction manual (assuming its vinyl) email me! and i can fax you one. with a job that simple, it would be foolish to hire out. Cheap labor around here if materials are pre-purchased is about 40-60% of material as base price. Large windows are more. Stay away from "storm chasers" they do horrible jobs and you'll never see them again. Word of mouth is best bet. But I still say DIY !!! Unless it's an insurance issue. Or if it's steel siding (panels) but I doubt it is if its a ranch... let me know! Viciouswindstalkersgn@ yahoo.com
PS - I am an estimator @ Menards, if that means anything to you ;-P
