Despite all the criticism against online IQ test and intelligence tests in general, there really are some accurate ones out there. The legitimate ones have been created by psychologists and have been tested on large and representative samples of the population. Whether today's IQ tests are capable of encompassing the enormous arsenal of human abilities is a whole different matter. Alas, it is too often unfairly and completely irrelevantly invoked by intelligence test critics. Indeed, IQ tests can be greatly improved, but they fare pretty well at what they claim to measure - mainly processing speed, logic and recognizing patterns.

Back to online IQ tests. There are a lot of free IQ tests online that claim to be accurate. Alas, most of them can only serve for entertainment purposes. The most accurate way to measure your intelligence is to take an individually administered IQ test such as the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scales or Raven's Progressive Matrices. If you do decide to take IQ tests online (which is more convenient and is the preferred method for most people), I seriously recommend you take a test that is NOT free, but requires you to pay a small fee - about $4-5 to take the test. Those tests tend to be the most accurate ones online. You can find a nice collection of IQ tests at http://www.iqscorenow.com

Many are more accurate than people would like to recognize. Tickle has an exact test that psychiatrist give to their patients..I think it is the Super IQ test. I have taken about 4 different online IQ tests and they avg right where my proffessional IQ test scores lie....you just save $300.

they can give you an idea of whether or not you are above average or below, but they are not long enough to give you much more than that

real iq tests are much longer, are timed, and actually give you your score as a percentile as well (which is more accurate, as it judges your score based upon others that took the exact same test)

but if you did well, im sure you would most likely do well on another

They are completely inaccurate and should be treated as "entertainment value only". A real IQ test is administered and scored by a trained professional and contains tests that cannot be completed online.

They aren't but neither is any other IQ test. They are all very subjective and not at all a good definition for a person's intelligence.
