There were eight children killed in the attacks, all of whom were on the planes. Fortunately, the observation deck at the World Trade Center wasn't open yet that early in the morning so at least there were no families or other tourists killed in the towers. And, since it was September and school had just started, few families would have been traveling, so that's why there weren't a lot more families and kids killed on the planes. But it's still very sad that eight young lives were lost that day.
