I think that feeling is the bond that you and your child are sharing. Its such a wonderful thing. Sorry that the father isnt around much. I know what that is like. But you will get through that. Good Luck to you

Didn't see the question in here but I can tell you that the getting up part will come soon. You will be very very tired to start off then it will get easier. Do not sleep w/ your baby with you so you don't roll over on her. I didn't lay down w/ my babies to feed them until I knew I could stay awake. It will come in a few weeks. Congrats on the new little you!! Being a parent is comparable to NOTHING!! Regarding the time standing still when you look into each others eyes,,,, IT DOES, enjoy it now b/c they do grow up so quick but that's okay b/c it only gets better from here!

I know the feeling. I never thought I would feel this in love with my daughter, but I am. I hate being away from her when I'm at work. My friends act like I should be wanting to go out and get crazy again, and I'm happiest just staying home with her.
And I know what you mean about wishing she could be this way forever. I already feel my chest clinch when I think about anyone hurting my daughter, or even her getting hurt by life. But...I can't protect her forever. I can just be there to pick up the pieces and give her kisses. And smack the hell out of any guy she's dating. :) Just kidding. I think.... :)

I just had my first son in November. I think the mother thing comes naturally to me. I had no problem getting up in the middle of the night to breastfeed every 2 hours. I loved holding him, stroking his hair and cuddling him. I always hear "They grow up so fast!" and boy are they right. He's only 4 months, but I look at his premie clothes that are packed away and say "Wow, I can't believe he was that small!". Now he's my lil chunker who laughs and smiles and it brightens up my day. His dad wishes he could be around, but unfortunately he's in Iraq and is due to come home in June. He saw him for 16 days when he was STILL wearing the premie clothes. We just can't wait to be a family in the same house :)

Never lose that feeling. Later, life gets busy and many parents don't treasure their children the way they should. I like to watch my kids sleep. It always calms me and bring a smile to my face. It sort or resets my clock and gives me the strength to face another crazy day of school, activities, and housework! I'm very happy for you. Now get off the computer and go rest!

It sounds as if you have a strong loving bond with your baby. They are so sweet and innocent in the newborn stage. But wait until you get that first giggle, first word, walking, experience the adorable mischief they get into, watch them open presents. Every stage of their life is rewarding. Enjoy it!
