Love that is not returned...

I used to think that this was the most romantic & tragic form of love but the truth is, it isn't love at all. It is a crush, an obsession, an infatuation. Real love has to be mutual. It is impossible to have one-sided love. Love by its very definition must be returned. It is shared.

When I was in high school I had so many painful crushes. I had a habit of falling for men who didn't know I existed. I thought it was love but it was just an infatuation. I was in love with the idea of those guys, not with who they really were because I didn't even know them. Now that I'm older & have experienced real love, I know the difference. But "unrequited love" is very very intense and particularly when you're a teen, everything feels more dramatic. It seems like the end of the world. But it isn't.

I believe that unrequited love is a feeling you have for someone and they don't feel the same for you. Such as having a huge crush on someone, and whether you tell them or not, their love is not returned. Oh such is life. :-)
