If you live in a democratic society, then your daughter is free to do as she wants. And she doesn't have to listen to you.
Of course, you are also free to disinherit your daughter and give your money to someone else or to charity.
Perhaps the best compromise in a situation like this would be to set up a fund which would give your daughter monthly or yearly payments and not allow her to take all of the money as a lump sum.
This would ensure that any man your daughter marries will benefit from your money only as long as he stays with her and treats her well.
In case of divorce, he may get some alimony payments. But such payments are not likely to be a lot of money or last for a long time.

What does true love have to do with money. Just because some one is poor does not mean that they are not a good person and can not love the daughter. Having money does not make a person better at love than anyone else.

Get past the money part, and look at the differences in education, manners, social skills, life interests, family and friends. From the examples of spelling and grammar in some of the responses, you can see what part of the problems would be. It isn't just money, it would be an entire change in status and daily living. A trust fund could be established, but would not ensure happiness when the bloom wears off. Best wishes

Yes absolutely......if that is who she honestly loved.
Money isnt everything.
True love is hard to find these days.
I would rather her be happy and in love with a poor man than unhappy and rich.
Afterall, she has u to look after her if he cannot give her the things u think she should have. She may be perfectly satisfied with having the basics and being in love than having anything she wants and not knowing love at all.
So, my answer is YES.....if she can find love, then dont mess with it.
Be there if u wanna be financially, but otherwise, let her be happy.

I would "let" my daughter marry whomever she wishes. I would have hoped to have raised her to know how to judge a person's integrity and hope she is wise enough to make the right choice. If she doesn't mind the situation, then why should I? Besides, as long as the guy made an honest living and was good to her, I wouldn't mind helping them out.

depends on why they are poor - if the man is capable of getting a job - and makes the effort to get a GOOD job, fine. but if he is lazy and careless with money, sue-happy, and gonna use her, i'd break the bastards neck

I cant let her do anything she would be an adult but I know where and what I can do with my money rather then let somebody use her to get it. I would have to see his character. Its her life and that has nothing to do with my money.

I would! But I would make sure that I kept my funds under lock and key until I trusted him, which would be, never!

Yes if I knew she was in love. Actually I couldn't stop her if she wanted to do it. If I had doubts, I would do something legal to protect my fortune in case of my passing............

if she loved him, sure, but what difference would my age or financial state have to do with it? Guess I'd be glad to have money to help them out...
