BRAVO To You-It is our business to intervere correct a wrong when the opportunity presents itself. To do nothing is as bad as the act itself and you could also have called the police since he was breaking the law. Hopefully by you confronting he'll think before doing it again but next time try to gt some personal info if possible and report the WORM-every Pound,Aspca has to respond to a abuse complaint-that is the law for animals are no longer property to do with as one wants.The Laws of Decency compell us to interfere for the animal is helpless but responsible caring people ,like you,give them a voice. Again BRAVO!

I was in a similar situation a few years back. And yes, absolutely, I felt compelled to say something. It might not have been the smartest idea because the guy looked pretty rough, and when I confronted him he decided to turn on me. A taxi driver came to my aid and the police were called. The man had his dog taken from him right then and there.
The saddest part was that he had a toddler with him. At best, he was teaching that child to abuse animals as well, at worst, the child could have been recieving the same treatment as the dog. As far as I am concerned animal abuse is everyone's business! We have to do whatever we can to prevent it, even if it means a conflict with another human being.

As soon as you saw this Man beating his Dog, you should have interfered, and called the police, because there is such a Law as Cruelty, to Animals. That man should have spend the night in Jail, and if it were me in charge of the Jail, I would not have given him, Food, or Water, until he would have repented for what he did. If only there was such a Law, that would not let people, who abuse animals not to own any, would be a Happy Day, I wish it would happen. I am an Animal lover, it does not matter if it was a Cat,Dog,Horse,I love animals period, because Animals are most trustworthy, than People they do not let you down, and they are Lovable,loyal, and would always stand by you no matter what. The only mistake you made was letting this guy hit his Dog until, you decided to step in, you should have done it without hesitation, right away.

Of course, I'm like most other people that posted before me!
On the topic of bad treatment to animals, I just went outside to bring out the garbage and see a little dog out side in the cold, it's just barely over the freezing mark. I tried to check it's tag (risking getting bitten, but oh well), then a few people came by walking their dogs after I almost checked it and the god ran down the parking lot over a huge snow bank. I'm going to go now to see if I can find it or find someone looking for it, it's dark out, so it might be hard. Wish me luck!!!
==========
Addition:
I looked, but couldn't find the dog (N)
The only thing I managed to do was climb on 12 feet of snow, jump down the other side and get snow in my shoes and pants...but it was worth trying to find the dog! To make matters worse, I seen a stray cat, which ran away from me. I just home their owners find them!

With each and all the crazies accessible, strolling as much as a stranger that's abusing their canines is quite risky and you could additionally get abused, i'm useful. call the police yet on your very own protection, do no longer mindset this guy or woman. all of us hate animal abuse (i think of, besides the actuality that some are nonetheless utilising prongs and e-collars, which to me is animal abuse) yet while a guy or woman is overtly abusing a canines, stay far off from them as you may desire to be next.

I have witnessed this in public. This women was yelling at her dog because it was not listening to her. Ok....then she proceeded to kick her dog! Not too hard but it triggered something in me that made me mad. Regardless of how intense she kicked her dog...she should not have done that. I of course had to say something to her. I said maybe your dog will listen to you if you don't abuse him. The lady then decided to yell at me. Well, in my opinion she wouldn't have to yell at me unless she had a guilty need to defend herself and then blame me for being the reason why her dog would not listen to her. This is not the first time I have defended an animal. I used to have a neighbor in a "stairwell type" apartment complex and for whatever reason the people above me decided to have a puppy. (I have 2 Newfoundlands) Anyways this dog continued to bark nonstop throughout the days! I was like why would this puppy be barking so much? So I walked up to the next floor (we had windows to the balcony's of all the apartments) and I see this poor puppy tied up to less than probably 1 ft of lease tied to the balcony sitting in it's own piss and sh#!. ...pardon my language. As I went up there the owners of the puppy came up and I confronted them and told them it was animal cruelty to do this. They could not respond. I called the police. They did not have this animal anymore after that. I feel that if you see something you should definitely confront that person for being wrong. I am very happy that you confronted the person doing this! Kudos to you!

I have stepped in. The boy that used to live across the street used to torment his dog. One day I saw him put a bread sack over the dog's head and was sitting there laughing about it. I waited a minute to see if he would take it off and he didn't. I started screaming at the top of my lungs for him to take it off and before it was all over his mother was out side and I was telling her to get rid of the dog or keep her son away from it or I would be calling the police. The dog found a new home 3 days later. I make it my business when a defenseless animal or person is being abused....Someone has to stand up for them.

Since I am female and relatively small, I would have to assess my personal safety. I would call police, get his license plate number if he tried to leave in a car or try to have others assist me in stopping the abuse. I would not just let it pass.
People who beat animals are likely to be violent to other people. I hate animal abuse and would do my best to stop it, but without getting myself killed or injured. A friend of mine tried to stop a man from beating up a woman on the street and was rewarded with a badly broken jaw and was lucky it was only that.

I would call the police immediately. It is against the law to abuse animals, and you can go to jail for that now. I pay very high respects to you for stepping in, as most people wouldn't, even if they wanted to. I always call the police when I see people lock their dogs in their car and go into the store in very hot weather, and the police are there within moments. Like I said, it is against the law, and I completely agree with them being punished. Thank you for people like you.

Good for you! Sounds like that man had some serious displacement issues. I think you did the right thing. Cruelty comes in all forms and I doubt the dog did much to deserve such a beating. What happened afterwards??
