unfortunately...no. :( sorry! I suffered from really bad heartburn with my first pregnancy. My OB said that it was the elevated hormone levels that actually dilate your esophagus allowing the stomach acid to splash up!!!
Try eating small meals more frequently throughout the day and make sure you don't eat an hour before bed (or lying down) Drinking milk can help. Be careful with tums because too many tums (sodium bicarbonate being the main ingredient) can actually cause you to retain fluid! (ah pregnancy lol) so...moderation is key!

Digestion slows during pregnancy. Also the acid content can change in your stomach. You can have too little acid-which would not trigger the sphincter to close(the lid that closes the oesophagus from the stomach) so that when the stomach starts to churn the food and what little acid there is, it ends up splashing the oesophagus and causing heart burn. Then the other option is that you have too much acid and its burning the lining of your stomach, and the lid, and the throat. Most people don't normally get the latter from what i have seen. ask your doc for a pill if you don't like the tums or other calcium carbonate chewable. Also you can test it with apple cider vinegar-take a sip-if it helps you have too little acid, if it is worse you have too much, and then you should get a scoop of ice cream cuz the milk will neutralise it. A really BIG key is to stay away from SODA! it will not help at all! You will notice a big difference in less than a week if you stop drinking sodas.

That's how I knew I was pregnant with my daughter (3rd child). I couldn't even think about eating and the heartburn would begin. I was also tired etc. But 3 weeks earlier at the Dr. they said I wasn't pregnant but yet I still didn't have any signs of a period coming. The next day I bought a HPT and sure enough my body was right I was pregnant. Come to find out the first test at the Dr. was wrong. Two days later at the Dr. they determined I was 8 weeks along.
I'm 26 weeks w/#4 and the heartburn doesn't get better. Tums work well.

No not really but I think you will see it gets worse as the baby takes up so much more room farther in the pregnancy be careful with the tums they can cause constipation ''something to do with the cacium'' which could cause hemoroids not sure whats worse heartburn or hemmoroids watch what you eat I love spicy flavorful foods but I limit myself as I wake up in the middle of the night with heartburn from breakfast so bland it out and milk b4 bed helps me a little congrts 2 u !!

It may not be heart burn. It may be acid reflux. I get it really bad when I am pregant. It always starts with in the first few weeks but just tell your doctor about and thay can give you something such as nexum to make it better. Also cutting out pop helps me and drinking milk. g/l

If your throat burns its acid reflux not heartburn. Ask your doctor if he can prescribe something for it.

You can have heartburn at anytime! I would stay away from alot of greasy foods, that just increases it! Get rolaids, or tums.. they help alot! I usually just have to take one, and it goes away!

If your body can not handle the food, then it is telling you that it does not like that food at all.
