tell them straight up its the uniform, and that there's nothing wrong with speedos and that lots of straight people wear them, and that they reduce drag more than jammers do as they have less fabric

Okay, well Speedos come in 2 styles now for water sports. There's the old-fashioned briefs and then there's jammers:

I don't know if regulations prohibit you from wearing jammers, but I don't see how wearing them would interfere with your performance.
Speedo briefs don't cost that much. You might try telling your parents that you need some cash for a suit for water polo. Just don't say Speedos or briefs. There shouldn't be any weird questions and if your parents are "disturbed" tell them to visit: http://www.usaswimming.org/
Swimwear is swimwear and only seems odd to people who don't swim. You may also ask a friend's parent for help in talking with your mom or dad. It's perfectly normal and they should support you in your choice.

Well if they support you in playing water polo, just inform them that the speedo is the required/standard uniform so to speak for being on the team. Get your coach or team captain to explain if need be. But At least one of your parents should be able to understand.
Good luck

Actually you probably need two pairs at the very least. A spare set in your carry bag as well.
From the few years that I played, things get pretty rough as you get more experience. At least if you are wearing two pairs of speedos you have a better chance of keeping at least one of them intact.
It's the best game around for cardio exercise. Just tell them it's what you want to do. It isn't a fashion parade and you cannot play wearing baggy surf shorts -it provides far too much advantage for the opposition.. and too much fabric available for them to grab hold of and hold you back or hold you under.

you didn't say if you're a girl or a guy. not that it matters, except that speedos look better on girls than guys, generally.
try explaining to your parents that the speedo is required by the coach (get it in writing.) tell them that you'll only wear it for water polo, and not in public. (if you're a girl, select a modest swimsuit, and maybe you can wear it at other times.) (if you're a guy, forget wearing it at other times; they're not modest.) good luck!

you say Yo folks i need it cause i want to play water polo simple as that if they dont like it they arent supporting your likes and dislikes then there is a more serious problem
if you are comfortable enough in your own body to want to wear a speedo go for it and be proud
besides they would be supporting athletics not a drug habit you might want to point that out

Well...basically you'll have to be honest, particularly if they are going to come to the matches. If I were you, tell them that you have to buy a team swim suit. No matter what, just focus in on it being a team thing and not a personal choice. In that way, it takes the choice away from you and makes it something your coach decided. After all, they should respect a kid that is obeying an authority figure.

If you are so desperate for brand " Speedo" then by something similar & cheeper & paste a Speedo sticker. If you can print so much the better.

Just like you would have to get a team uniform for any other sport, this just happens to be the one for yours.
Just let them know the banana hammock is a requirement, not an option. If they complain, remind them of the other uniforms you had to wear for previous sports.
