Well this may sound gross but what i did was ran my finger over and around my cervix myself to thin it out. It thined out because there was alot of mucous.

Ask the Dr. to strip your membranes. It doesn't really hurt and there is about a 50% chance that it will put you into natural labor. It worked for me. I got it done when I was 38 weeks. I was also 2cm and about 80 effaced.

I don't think it will. When I was pregnant with my son, I too was 2 cm dilated, but at 30 weeks pregnant. I did jumping jacks, all those things we do when we are tired of waiting. Well, my son was a week late, and almost weighed 9 pounds!
I think when they are ready, and there are no health problems, the baby comes when it wants to.

Walking is supposed to help induce labor... and doing the deed... i don't know if that helps the cervix in particular...... I tried to hop down the stairs too.....

at 37 wks i was 5 cm dilated for 2 weeks. my dr. stripped my membranes and it did nothing. i also walked miles and it didn't help. i think when the baby is ready that's when he/she will come. i would not voluntarily have my membrane stripped again....it is the most uncomfortable thing i can imagine. good luck. i wish you patience! :)

all the above, along with stimulating nipples(not pumping), mild yoga, and drink plenty of water. also a lot of foreplay before sex, and orgasm could really help too, it activates the cervix and mild contractions.

your best bet is to do the deed again,or to go 4x4ing these two things work wonders on putting you into labour!
