there were no PSychiatric doctors in biblical times, so is it not possible that these people who believe they recieved messages from god, actually had schizophrenia? people with schizopjhrenia nowadays feel as though they sometimes recieve messages from god, i hav had such an experience.. so which is it, were the prophets of biblical times schizophrenic, or are people nowadays simply recieving messages from a higher source..my personal messages, i hav gotten from even TV. and these messages sumtimes make me extremely happy, sumthing that doesnt usually happen.because they were about how humans can liv in peace...

Well, its recently suggested that a parasite in cat feces may link to schizophrenia. egyptians use to worship cats, hence alot of cat feces, this plus the stress of slavery which was prevalent, could almost certainly lead to "schizophrenia"..is my opinion

Wow! What a very interesting perspective! Percentage-wise, I don't think that they all could have suffered from schizophrenia. However, I suppose that it was possible in some instances. As for you, you said that you THINK that you have schizophrenia. If at all possible, you should get yourself checked out so that you'll know for sure. It can't be easy for you living this way. My uncle suffers from this condition and it's not always pretty to watch. He hears voices and always think that someone is watching him just waiting for a chance to kill him. When he's on his medication, he's better, but they have to adjust the dosage from time to time. I wish you luck and thanks for posting such an interesting question! Best regards to you, Jason.

I would find it hard to believe that an entire nation (Israel)would be suffering from schizophrenia or psychosis, seeing they had God's tangible presence leading them away from Egypt.
