I think it will cost to much, you will probably not have a car for weeks or a month. You still might get problems after the procedure.

It would be easier to buy a new car.

In a four wheel drive or rear wheel drive car, the engine crankshaft runs parallel to the motion of the car. In a front wheel drive car, the crankshaft runs perpendicularly to the motion of the car.

This means that the engine bays are actually a completely different shape.

You would have to turn the engine by ninety degrees, get a new gearbox, get a forward/rear diff, get a rear axel with a diff, change the setup of the rear suspension, get a front diff, and hack away at the car bodywork in order to accomadate it all. This would severly compromise the strength of the body, meaning you would need to install a chassis.

You'd be amazed how much you'll get charged for all of these parts and the work (probably more than the value of the car).

Just buy a new car, mate.

There is no way to do it with your current equipment. Your transmission needs to have a way to get power to the rear wheels - and a drive shaft - and rear axles - and different rear suspension geometry... Usually, the best way is to buy all the stuff from the factory's rally program, but that car doesn't compete in the WRC, so the factory doesn't make a gearbox/transfer case for that engine, or for that chassis. You could probably graft the complete drivetrain from a different car (say, an old Mitsu Eclipse, or a Celica GT4), but getting it to fit would be an expensive problem, and getting it to pass emissions would also be a problem.

And it would be MUCH cheaper top just buy an AWD car - and it will be more reliable.

Yes it would be very $. Anyways most four wheel drive vehicles have something called a transfer case which turns two different driveshafts one to send power to the front wheels and one to send power to the rear wheels.

I'm assuming that all wheel drive is basically the same as 4wd

Your cars are front wheel drive so there is no mechanism to allow the trasfer of power to your rear wheels they are pretty much just along for the ride and provided that nothing goes wrong with them or that you are not applying the brakes they just spin freely.

If you gots da money, you can gets whatever you want done for a price. If you don' gots da money, that's tooooooo bad. If you have some mechanical skills, maybe it can be done in your garage. The drives must match up (be the same exact things). You would have to 'engineer' some things, no doubt. It's a heck of a huge job you're looking at. May be best to sell them and buy an all wheel drive car and soup it up (or tuner it, whichever).
