them against white people to make them look so intolerant. It's like they can't get out of the past, or else they never get tired of making white people look racist. This new movie Pride is one word away from Black Pride-screams racism. What would happen if white people made a movie pitting themselves against group of intolerant blacks and named it Pride? And of all the things, swimming? Anyone watch the Olympics, yeah black people don't swim...(oo you're such a hypocrite, well at least Glory Road made sense...)

I agree. It is really demoralizing as a society to view headlines such as "First Black Disney Princess", "Not Enough Black Leads In TV Drama's", "First Black Coach in Super Bowl", "Not Enough Black Coaches in College", and several others.

Why does it always seem to be the African American community reaching out like this? I rarely see Hispanics (the largest minority in America), Asians, Indians, Native Americans, and all other races come in and declare thereselves as being underprivileged in society. It is one thing to do great on your own, it is another to force achievement through laws. I realize that there may need to be a few more "colored" coaches in football, but I do not believe that they need to be forced to be viewed upon. Actions speak louder than words.

Some say that stereotypes are untrue. Maybe, to an extent, however, you would be astonished at just how many of them are quite true to the majority of people (not all, but majority). This is America, slavery happened hundreds of years ago (did you forget that hundreds of thousands of white men and women died for your freedom), civil liberties were given fourty years ago, but trying to pit our society in a battle of achievements by race is just wrong. Stand up for your culture and color, yes, but more importantly, stand up for your country, America, which was founded on multicultural beings and multiethnic. You should go back and study how bad the Irish had it when America just started. Considering also that the majority of slaves were used by Spain and Portugal, not America.

I believe you are somewhat misinformed about black people making a lot of films. The number of black filmakers in Hollywood, you can count on one of your hands. A lot of people would have trouble after naming just Spike Lee or John Singleton.

If you look at the upcoming Pride film you have to realize that african americans were broguht over as slaves and property and forbiden to learn how to read & write for almost 400 years. Generations of psychological conditioning that white is superior and black is inferior. Pride would make you think think that black people don't swim which is false. If you were to do deep research on hockey, you would find that black people played hockey in a league 40 years before there was an NHL. Information such as this is often erased from history to hide the successes and accomplishments of a people whether it be black, native american or latino. So when you see a film such as Pride, or Glory Road, hopefully some people will understand what it is to succeed in something when for so long other people have told you you weren't good enough or you were born the wrong color.

Well if white people made a film like that it would be making headlines that it was a racist film. People would try to to get the film banned and it would be all over corporate news channels saying why would in hollywood make a racist movie.

"Black people" don't make the films you're talking about. Some African American filmmakers might make them.

Sweeping generalizations make people sound racist.
