Anyone care to share their experiences/opinions of the Strip Trolley? I'm looking for inexpensive transportation from the Strip to Fremont Street.

You have received so much mis-information so far I don't know where to start other than to give you the information from the source.
http://www.lasvegasstriptrolley.com

Cat/Deuce bus info
http://www.rtcsnv.com

for all other transportation including the free hotel shuttles
http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com/transportation.cfm

The Deuce is probably your best bet(from the strip to Fremont St), it's $2 not $3 one way, it does cost $5 for a 24 hour pass (IF) you board on the strip and ask for a 24 hour pass. If you board the CAT a 24 hour pass is $2.50 > if/when you ride the Deuce they will charge you an extra .50c and give you another 24 hour pass=total cost $3 for a 24 hour pass.

It is possible to take a free hotel shuttle to downtown>catch the Sam's Town bus out to Sam's Town>you can watch the Sunset Stampede show in the Mystic Falls area< then take the Sam's Town bus to downtown>for a total cost of $0 > reverse the route to get back to the strip or catch the Deuce back to the strip for $2...

Here's the straight dope:

The trolley does not go to Fremont Street. Its route is from the Stratosphere to Mandalay Bay.

It costs 25 cents less than the Deuce bus, however the Deuce(run by the municipal transport system CAT) picks up passengers on the street. The trolley has to pull all the way into each hotel and go to the porte cochere to drop off.

The trolley also always seems to be standing room only. To go to Femont the bus or a taxi. Speed vs. low cost--you choose.

i live in Las Vegas and i have never even heard of this trolly.

I think you are talking about 'The Deuce', which is a double decker bus that goes down the Strip and the downtown area. this is probably the best way to get from the Strip to Fremont street because it require little to no walking on your part. If you start at the Strip they drop you off right in front of Fremont street. Plus, if you sit on the top level of the bus you get a really cool view of the stuff down below.

The current rates are $3 one way or $5 all day

the trolley is exactly like the bus anywhere else,, they make their usual stops along the road, pick- up and drop off, only direct route with no stops would be to share a cab/taxi with someone
(if you want to cut your expense).
And you must pick up cab at the front a hotel/casino(on the strip), cannot hail one off the street, some kind of weird las vegas law??

It's not much more than a bus, cheap and will get you where you want to go. Of course with any public transportation, you have to wait.

A cab isn't that expensive. It's a question of time vs money...you choose.
