I am a feminist and I am quite willing to discuss feminism with a man at any time. The problem with the Women's Studies section is that it is filled with misinformed people who think that feminism means hating males. They in turn are also threatened by women having any kind of autonomy so they must constantly slander and try and humiliate the feminists that post here. I am a married mother of three. I do not hate motherhood, males, or bras. I do not feel that women are superior to men and that they should take over the world. What I and other feminist believe in is equality across the board. That means gender, sexual orientation, age, class, religion, culture and race. Feminist don't believe there should be a power imbalance and people who are not not white males should be oppressed and discriminated against. An example of racial discrimination that will illustrate how the dominant race influences society is that flesh coloured bandaids are made for white people. I realize that is a silly example but it really speaks volumes about what we as white people simply take for granted. Feminism believes that blacks, aboriginals, asians should all be recognized for the contributions that they make to our countries. Human trafficing, and domestic abuse should be stopped. Ecofeminism is concerned about the environment.
Ask away Patrick but please be respectful and you will always receive honest respectful answers back. Thanks for a refreshing and honest question.

I think anyone who is respectful towards others, is welcome in this section. Many men take women's studies courses. Many men consider themselves to be feminists. Women's studies is about studying feminism, women's issues, and gender identity. It is not limited to women only, although there are generally more women interested in these topics than men.

I think this forum has enormous potential to create good for men and women and the younger people coming up.
Personally, I believe that the dialog between men and women is the only road to understanding, and men like your self are very welcome.
Posers and Trolls and those who get off on making people mad by being insensitive jerks add nothing to any forum, but they have a right to be here, just as much as I do.
Great question.
Good luck

If a man is here to contribute serious ideas and information and not be crude and disrespectful than I'm all for it! It's the rediculous questions from the loser's with no life that make the guys who come here look bad, but you sound cool ; )

If a guy asks a question, I would HOPE that he's looking for more insight. There's alot of guys that are just looking for the next thing that's going to get them laid. (notice I didn't say all the guys) Personally, it kind of bothers me that guys are posting on the "women's sides." But, then again, there's not many "all guys sides". If it's women's health, I tend to shy away from going into detail about certain things, just as if there is a guy I don't know in the room with me. That's just my personal choice/preference/opinion.

the fact that you find it to be a legitimate question tells a lot about what feminism really means. there are no "men only" or "women only" sites.

All perspectives are valuable in one way or another. A bunch of people sharing ideas and information? Sounds like a good idea to me... it would be rather discriminatory to not include males. That would be like saying women are not welcome in the sections on Math and Physics.

Feminism is important in toppling the patriarchal-homophobic-facist-totalitarian regime.
