Take yoga - it will teach you to control your breathing and reflexive actions that occur when you're nervous.

Visualize yourself speaking to the group ahead of time. Picture specifics - what you're wearing, how you're standing, etc. It may also help to rehearse it "live" with a sympathetic friend or family member.

Breathe slowly and deeply right before you have to speak. A mint or cough drop will help to alleviate dry mouth.

Public speaking is the #1 fear in this country, so remember you're not alone. The audience wants you to succeed (remember all of the times you've silently cheered on a speaker, hoping that they'll get past that cough or stutter?) Remembering that they are with you, and that you have information that they really want to hear, can also help you get past the nervous tics.

Take a deep breath, think pleasant thoughts and try to forget your audience and just think you are rehearsing in front of a mirror. Good luck.

I don't have an answer, but I have noticed that Akbar B has had great answers in several different categories that I have read tonight, so follow his advice.
