that is SO NOT TRUE. I run so much faster in shorts than in my kilt (I played field hockey). I think it's just a traditional sexist-type thing. But at the higher levels, a lot of the olympic level teams wear shorts now.
Skirts are definitely not faster to run in. I don't know if you've ever tried it but they're a pain in the backside.

Skirts help attract men to the games, and just a hold over from more sexist times. Honestly, both men and women should wear kilts to play lacrosse.

Like all things, the wearing of kilts was a product of the times. I'm sure that some day the tradition will change. I would think a pair of shorts, much like the ones that women wear for soccer, would be most practical. They could also wear pants that are just longer versions of their team shorts for the coldest days.

welll, most players, except really weird ones, wear spandex shorts under their skirts, so it is pretty much just like wearing shorts. I think most teams wear them because they look better and they wore skirts when they first started playing sports
