Yep....By doing that you are setting yourself up for a urinary tract infection. I believe me, you don't ever want one of those.

It depends on what you mean by a long time. Remember the reason we have a bladder is to hold pee and if you always let it out at the first urge the holding muscle will get weak just as any other non-used muscle will and you'll then have no choice but to pee very often. Most people sleep about 8 hours a night and the bladder should easily be able to hold it's pee for that long providing you weren't drinking to excess before going to bed. After that amount of time you should use the rule of pain and not hold it when it starts to hurt too bad; especially when the pain starts moving to your back as that's an indication pee is backing up into your kidneys which can cause them damage.

If you regularly hold your pee for too long, it can lead to the development of bacteria in the bladder, which can cause infections. As long as you go to the bathroom when you feel the urge, you keep the "motion" going in the urinary system, which lessens the likelihood of developing a bladder infection. Hope this helps.

Yes, for two reasons.
First, it causes stretching of the bladder walls and muscles. As one gets older the weakening of these muscles causes you to pee more slowly. No muscle force reduces the pressure.
Second, the bladder can become so full that urine begins to back up into the kidneys causing them to overflow. This can cause toxins in the blood.
Pee when you feel the urge.

This is a very dangerous thing to do, why, because

1) Over stretching your bladder can cause the muscles to become weaker as you get older and cause incontinence.
2) Can cause muscles to tear. Very painful
3) Having a bladder stretched to the limit, all you need is any type of blunt trauma to your stomach,eg, punch, Auto accident ect and that urine will end up in your pelvic cavity.

Yes! It will cause kidney infections and if its held in for very long, you could have kidney failure.

My autistic cousin did it and ended up in the hospital cause no one knew she was holding it in.
