Ok. No need for everyone to get hostile toward this 3 year old. She is calling him that because his skin to her looks like a chocolate bar or candy that she has seen or eaten. Since she is 3, I don't think she is trying to be offensive, just descriptive (I have heard this kind of thing from youngsters before). As she grows older and learns to express herself better and learns race differences (not in a bad way), these things wont happen. As someone who is "chocolate" I don't find this offensive from a 3 year old.

Actually if you think it offensive than it is.People know when jokes are funny and when comments are rude and impolite. It doesn't matter if your racist or not you had to have made that reference to African American as to chocolate at some point,or your daughter wouldn't of known how to say it in that manner.Choose and select your words wisely at age 3 children pick up and understand way more than you may think. As to chocolate being referred to as another stereo typical slang word, maybe you should think would you like to be called caramel.Yes its a joke and may seem funny but,to some it may be just plain rude.

well me myself don't care what u call me its only what I answer too, but African American is the best term to me,but chocolate is not as bad as some other names we have been called and I feel Ur child meant nothing by the way she said it and because she was a child I would not have got upset with her but very kindly redirected her to the correct terminology
