If the car is in otherwise good shape probably so. Cost will range from 3 to 6 hundred depending on who does the work.
Can a replacement (in good shape) be had for that price? Do you want another car (enough to pay high price, or take on payments?)
It's your call........

While I agree with Mr. T, I always like to approach car repairs from a slightly different angle. I think like this. How much is your car worth now? How much will it be worth after repairs? If your car is now worth $300 on the open market and it will take $600 to fix it, you will need to end up with a car that is worth $900 after repairs. Would you give $900 for your car knowing it has new brakes and struts? If the answer is yes then have it fixed. If the answer is no, then get your $300 out of it and find something else to drive.

Got to ask yourself if you sink $500 + into your vehicle. Is the rest the vehicle going to hold up?
Some things to think of,
1. Is the body all beat up or starting to rot?
2. How many miles are there on the engine & tranny?
3. Is the interior thrashed?
4. Is the exhaust system in need of a major expense?
5. Do I need new tires?
6. How long am I going to keep the vehicle?
I believe only you can answer the question.
