Love Yahoo Widgets but are they safe?

I love widgets but someone mentioned they might be used for spying or collecting data. I don't even care about that, but would having them open leave my laptop open to trojans, worms, or viruses, or anything like that? Thanks!

As long as you get them from the Yahoo! Widgets site then they should be safe. I haven't had a problem with Yahoo! widgets yet and I've been running it since it came out.
