I have been the new kid 9 times and I'm 13. When I'm new I sit back for a day or two and see who everyone is and if you would like to hang with them. Once you know who you think you would want to be friends with go talk to them.

Be yourself. Don't get caught up in the whole highschool (or middleschool) popularity thing. You dont have to change yourself for anyone, people will like you for you. Just like all good things, it takes time. Have patience and things will just clique into place. Odds are there is some guy in one of your classes who is thinking "Wow..That new girl is hot.." and is trying to build up the confidence to ask you out. Maybe see if you can't find that guy first. lol. Hope this helped.

Just talk to people. I was the new kid and I opened up and talked to people and I made the most amazing friends. Also, just be yourself don't play around and make yourself sound "cool" because they will find out sooner or later.

Just be friendly. Ask someone their name then introduce yourself. Say I just moved here from such and such and I really dont know many people here, then ask how long they have been living their and what they do for fun, and before you know it a conversation is happening and you have made a friend who will then introduce you to more and more people. Sometimes being the new kid has its advantages, other kids want to know what your about.Go with it, before you know it you wont be the new kid anymore. GoodLuck

It's not that being new is uncool; it's just that they don't know you yet.

If you're in high school, join a club or sport if possible. If not, try to team up with people you think are cool during school projects. Eventually you will meet cool people who like you too.

Just make a point to make eye contact, smile & say Hi to at least one new person every day.

P.S, I don't agree that it's not cool to hang with the new kid. I think it's just the opposite.

1)try pretending to be forgetful, then during class ask them, sooner of later you'll bound to start a conversation.
2)i'm also a new, but i dont want to replace my fav friends in my old school, so i just talk to some of my new classmates and during recess, every day i go off without anyone noticing and take the time to remember my friends in my old school, how they treat me, they talk to me like no problem at all, in the end i'm quite heppy being alone

Oh my goodness, do I know that feeling. I grew up in the Navy and every YEAR, I was the new kid. But you know what? I talked to the people sitting next to me in class and asked them questions about themselves, for example "do you like this band?" and next thing you know, I have friends from the Kindergarten that I haven't seen in years but still talk to.

Well, i know how it feels to have a new kid in school, not to actually be the new kid (well, in the third grade i did, but w/e) and i definetly do not like it when you TRY to make new friends. just be nice to people but don't stick yourself to people, don't try to look desperate. just be nice, and you'll get friends... eventually. good luck :)

r u the new kid at school or work? just be yourself and be friendly and slowly get to no people, i think that people who just throw themselves out there and tel you their life stories right away are annoying, being a little mysterious is attractive remember that!
