I have a limited learners permit which states that I can only drive with supervision from 5AM to 9PM. When I got it my dad came with me to the DMV and only my dad. Now it never said this but it probably meant with a parent or guardian when it said supervision. My dad signed a certificate a driving certificate stating that he is my parent and guardian. So can legally drive with him at those times but here comes my questions.

Would it be legal to drive from 5AM to 9PM with my mom?
She's also my parent and guardian but she never signed a certificate stating that.

In most states it is ANY "licenses driver." Some states it is any licenses driver over the age of 18 or 21.

I never heard of a requirement for a "parent."

BTW, it is a "state" law not a "federal" law.

In most states 'supervision' means a driver over the age of 21, not necessarily a guardian.

I'm pretty sure it depends on what state you live in. I know in massachusetts you can drive with anyone over the age of 21 who has had a drivers license for more than 2 years. it doesn't need to be your parent/guardian. i'm sure that the dmv assumes that you will drive with both parents. but to be safe you should check on your state's dmv website.

It is legal as long as someone with a drivers license over the age of 25. At least that is how it is in TN

I think it is still legal. Your dad probably signed to give you permission to get the permit. Call the BMV and ask?

It's fine. In fact, in many places, you're fine if you have a licensed driver over 25, no matter who it is.

I think you're okay as long as you're in a car with a person who has a valid driver's license.
