You know I might want to participate in an antiwar protest, but these people have turned it into a partisan event by trying to make everyone believe that they can somehow participate in having Bush impeached. What is the game here? I wasn't born yesterday! I understand that we can't have a President impeached by signing a petition! Man these people sure do know how to continue the division that exist in this country with their idiotic nonsense.
When people start marching on Washington, wearing suits with American flag pins in their lapels, call me. Until then I guess you'll just have to keep stroking each other.

Hey enlightening, this is not the first time I've come across you pal. You seem to think that you have a crystal ball that tells you what everyone else believes and thinks! You have no idea that I have opposed going into Iraq since the very beginning. You have no idea that I have been letting my representatives know that from the very beginning. You, as I've told you before, are an enlightened idiot!

It isn't about stopping the war for people like enlightening. It's about continuining this silly, childish little lib/con game. It's about feeling morally and intellectually superior to everyone else for people like him. He and his kind are no better than the people who look down on every hard working person in this country and call them lazy liberals while they enrich themselves by sending jobs overseas. They are one and the same animal.

BarB, I lived through the Vietnam war protests. I watched as my generation formed their counter culture and alienated their families and all the real people who are this country, this working class. I watched them have their little dances and make their little speeches, but not accomplish anything, except maybe prolong that war. It was when the middle class overcame their abhorance of the counter culture and stood up that a change took place and Nixon ended that war. Those same people, who claimed to be the counter culture of the time, are now the ones who are turning their backs on the working class again, and investing in corporations that ship our jobs overseas.
You don't have any crystal ball either.

Maybe if these neo-hippies got a job and/or an education, they could form a legitimate opinion on current events. Instead it's the same old "blame Bush" routine and it's honestly getting stale. No, you going to school and studying sociology or ethnic studies doesn't count either. Those fields shouldn't even be allowed in the university. But, we get it hippies; you're stupid. We don't need to watch you standing around with a bunch of signs that read "Make music, not war" (by the way, really clever...) and ***** all day. No one cares that you don't like the President. The fact of the matter is people disregard these morons because I've learned throughout the years they have no idea what they're talking about to begin with. It's the same logic that applies to all of their arguments. All it takes is a little digging and wading through the rhetoric and eventually you'll find these people are the enlightened thinkers they lead on to be.
Furthermore, it's terribly hypocritical to scream "no blood for oil" and then turn violent when a police officer tries to get you off of PRIVATE PROPERTY! Scenes like that are testaments as to not only how insane, but how stupid neo-hippies really are.

lttlehrs -- I deplore people that traitors because they use their freedom of speech rights.
Intelligent debate seems not to work. And I agree that acting stupidly doesn't bring people on side. I am all for bringing impeachment proceedings against Bush but the protesters are an embarrassment. Protests should be more like the protests that arose in Latin America and in the Bloodless Revolution" in the Philippines to oust Marcos.
I am not American either but I will talk American politics here because America, in its ignorance, is shoved down our throats every day. The day that Americans stop trying to rule the world and screw up other countries and people's lives is the, and I hope it comes soon, that we will be able to ignor you.

exactly!
I would love to post a link on here that shows the kind of things that goes on in these "Anti-war" rallies but I would get banned for showing nudity, profanity, drug use, violence, anti-Semites etc...
I grew up near San Fransisco, I know what these people are all about. Mind you I am not talking about people who are anti-war, I am talking about the far left fringe.
If you are against the war, wonderful more power to you, if you don't like bush, great you have a political opinion.
But when you throw those together with things like "Boobs not bombs" (trust me I have seen the boobs, gimme bombs any day), Old guys who are there promoting genital pumps (no not kidding), anti-Semitic groups and signs, people dressed like suicide bombers, people caring signs that read "Support the resistance fighters, defeat America" and the groups that attack police and deface private property on purpose... Well you have completely defeated the message you are trying to portray.
So many people do not get the concept of the messenger being just as important as the message.
I am a republican and I am all for gay rights, but then I look at who they put out in front. it is never a guy in a suit looking respectable, its a guy dressed as a fan dancer and he hasn't shaved since Reagan... I am not surprised when most people openly reject the idea.
Global warming supporters point out Gore as the perfect example of "Eco-consciousness" and yet his home uses more energy than 20 house holds and his house uses more natural gas than the 200 room hotel I work at. How is a guy in middle America supposed to react to being told he is a bad guy when the hero of the opposite side is a hypocrite?
Would any one eat a steak off the underside of a dirty trashcan lid? almost no one would... its the same as these messages, if you want people to listen to your message you have to present it in an appealing and intelligent way.
and if you don't, well don't be surprised when people reject your ideas, when people laugh or mock or get defensive.
Yes it comes from both sides without a doubt, And I am often embarrassed by the things far right wing zealots do. But if you look closely at the way the message is carried, it does not really surprise me that Conservatives can carry a more powerful voice because they present them selves in a more appealing manner.
Maybe it is time for some one to "Pull a Leonidas" on the far Lefts messengers figuratively speaking. (sorry saw/read 300, I love that part lol)
I would like to think that someday we can actually move back toward intelligent debate, but it's not going to happen any time soon.

Before you allow a "protest demonstration" to influence you you should try to know who is behind the demonstration, financing and directing it and what action is expected to accrue from the demonstration.
Demonstrations do not take place "just for the hell of it" each one is designed to serve a purpose and to produce something.

You have absolutely no confidence in the "power of the people" do you.
Read about the anti-war protests started by STUDENTS during the Vietnam war and see what closed that mess down.

Good for you! I think many of these protesters are either kids or hippies living in their glory days who actually think that if they protest enough they can get what they want, regardless of the law.
