Twins are only genetic for fraternals. They only go down the maternal side. So if your husband or boyfriends family has twins it does not increase your chance- AT ALL. This is because the father does not produce the eggs- the mother does. Contrary to modern belief, bionic sperm does not cause the woman to drop two eggs to be fertilized and identicals are not genetic.
This being said- if you have fraternal twins running down your maternal side (which you do clearly, since your grandmother had twins) then you carry a higher likelihood of "double ovulation"- which results in twins. It is only a myth that they skip generations... so YOU might have twins, or your daughters or their daughters might have twins. Just keep in mind, this genetic occurance is only passed down through females. (There are always the flukes! Other things can cause twinning too so it makes it hard to peg down to just genetics)

Were your uncles identical or fraternal? Identical twins do not run in the family. Fraternal twins do. The reason they say it skips a generation is that if the twins are males, they can carry the gene to release more than one egg, bu they aren't the ones with the eggs, so it doesn't happen in that generation but they act as "carriers" of the gene and pass it on to their daughters, if they have any. Your mom may not have that "twin gene", and if she did it could have manifested itself in her births and not skipped a generation. Looks like your uncles, if they are fraternal, are the only lucky ones who got the gene, and their daughters will be the next contenders in the twin race!

I really couldnt tell you...I know that a couple years back I got pregnant and everyone told me my grandmother had twins that died at birth from being premature and back then they didnt have the technology and drugs they have now to help very small babies survive...My sister told me she wondered who would have the twins in the family *family of 8 bros and sisters* i am the 4th oldest also and the only one who has been pregnant in my family so far...i told her i knew it wouldnt be me....i went to the er shortly thereafter from complications and ended up having a miscarriage and thats when the doc told me *by seeing on u/s* that they were twin babies...i was SHOCKED!! so i guess u could say u could if they are in your family...as long as they are fraternal though...identical twins happen by chance not by genetics...

Twins are uncommon at first, and to have one boy and one lady could be exceptionally no longer likely. no longer something you're able to do will substitute your probabilities of what sort of intercourse your babies would be. it rather is all interior the genetics and what sort of sperm happens to fertilize the egg. For fraternal twins (twins that at the instant are not same mutually with one boy and one lady), that would might desire to run interior the lady's kinfolk--fraternal twins take place whilst the lady releases 2 eggs at as quickly as and the two eggs are fertilized. same twins take place whilst there is one egg and is fertilized via one sperm and then splits to make 2 toddlers, which ends up interior a similar intercourse for the two babies (the two the two male or the two woman.) despite if fraternal twins run interior the lady's kinfolk, it rather is nonetheless extra possibly that she'll have a single start and same twins are only a count number of success.

It usually skips a generation. Example: My grandmother had twins, my mom did not (and probably slim chance she would), therefore i am capable of carrying twins. Currently, i am on pregnancy #4, and no twins yet! (Whew!!!) Although, it DID take my Grandma her 16th pregnancy to have a set of twins...fraternal at that! Yes, my grandmother gave birth to 17 children! God bless that woman. :)

Supposedly it skips a generation. But, my father-in-law is a twin, along with 2 other sets, and his mom was a twin.

Usually it will skip one generation of females. (ie- if your grandmother had twins, you will likely have them). And this applies to fraternal twins only. Identical twins are spontaneous.

It varies with each family really, but I can tell you that twins are only passed on the females side... not the males...... So it is unlikely that you will have twins... Also identical twins are a fluke occurance they have nothing to do with genes..... Good Luck!!
