Hey,

I've seen Anti-Flag live a bunch of times as well as a ton of other punk bands and Anti Flag uses the exact same stuff that everyone else uses. By that I mean, Ampeg SVT heads and 8X10 cabinets.

The all tube Ampeg SVT heads sound amazing and have been the standard in all forms of rock music for years. They're so great that most companies try their very hardest to imitate the sound they produce. That means that you can get a wide range of different amps and still achieve the tone that Anti-Flag uses.

Although the amp and cabinet are important to tone (especially for bass) if you get a decent combo amp or cheaper head and combine that with the proper EQ settings than you should get the tone you're looking for. The key to punk bass is punchyness, most of the time that means a scooped EQ. By that I mean you're going to have a lot of bass and a lot of treble with far less mids. Also, its important to have your gain set as high as possible.

When messing around with your EQ its always wise to start from a genral rule (like the scoop) and then experiment with different settings. Just try turnning different knobs and listening to how that changes your overall output. You want to sound like Anti-Flag but you still want to add your own flavor to your tone as well.

Another product that would get the tone you're looking for is the SansAmp Bass Driver DI. these little effects boxes are used by everyone because they model old tube heads (like the ones Anti-Flag uses) really well and provide TONS of crunch and punch (both very important to the Anti-Flag tone). If you have a bass amp right now that you like but you aren't getting a tone you like then I would suggest getting one of these pedals to mess around with. Again, these pedals have their own EQ and most of the time a scooped EQ yields the best results.

I hope this helped without confusing you. If you need any other info feel free to contact me
