I am excited about seeing him this season. Will he fall into the category of "Ichiro and Nomo" or will he be another "Kaz (Matsui) and Irabu? He's had one great outing and one subpar so far. I think that the subpar will be good for him in the long run, acting like a "wake-up call". I think he's going to put up decent individual (key word: individual) numbers overall this year, for a rookie pitcher.

However, I predict him probably fading out towards the end of the season. Japan's baseball season is shorter than ours and I'm not sure if he can maintain his production with the increased workload. Also, factor in the pitcher-unfriendly park of Fenway, the tremendous bats in the AL East, and BoSox's bullpen is a mess right now translates to less wins than expected and an ERA in the 4.00 range.

Daisuke Matsuzaka will be solid, but probably have an ERA around 4 when it is all said and done. With that lineup he will win a good number of games. He will have more good games than not, usually providing a quality start. Japanese players are not easily flustered, which is to their advantage when they come over here. But don't expect him to be Santana, Halladay, Carpenter or Peavy off the bat. It'll take a good 2 years for his true abilities to be on view. Once he makes adjustments to the hitters' adjustments, he wil be better than this year.

I think he will be a major disappointment to Red Sox Nation.

I haven't seen him play yet, so all I have to go on is what I've read and heard.

And there are a LOT of folks saying this guy is the real deal. So for now he gets the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise.

If you are talking about Dice-K, I think he is awesome. he pitched very well In his first two outings, and in his 3rd outing, he has said he had just experimented with the players. In conclusion I think that he is really gonna be good, if not this season, next season.
