My first day of cross country was really really tiring. I had to run 2 miles on the first day of summer practice. I wasn't used to this so I was exhausted at the end of the day. 2 miles is a really short distance for me now, and my workouts went up to 7 miles by the end of cross country, but at this point, after running for a while now, I don't feel nearly as tired as I did back then. You really do get used to it after the first weeks or so of sweating.

My practice routines were 2 hours after school every day. Bringing Gatorade and a towel really helps. The hardest days will the be the first few days but my body built up resistance pretty quickly. Practice is everything. If you skip for a couple of days, it will take a few days to recover from not running and get used to it again.

It's fun and you get a lot of chances to talk to friends on the team, like during stretching and during the non-workout long run days. The thing to watch out for is if you have a strict coach or not. My coach didn't really yell at us for not running well, he just got mad if we missed a practice or a meet without telling him a day beforehand.

if u ran track within the last year and you did 200m than u should get use to it. i run long distance more than 200m, i never ran track. I'm not the most athletic you would meet. but its not really intense as some will think on the daily you run about 4-5 miles non stop. some days u do a pyramid: 200; 400; 800; 1200;1600,1200;800;400; 200

Well, it depends what you are going into. I'd start with an easier team, because you're just starting. But as your stamina improves, you can move into more intense things.
