I finished the anime, and now I am puzzled.

Why didn't Mizuho tell everyone that he is a guy? What about reunions and seeing friends from the school even after graduation? How can he play a girl for the rest of his life?

Just for a reference, this is what I'm talking about:

This is the site I got the anime from:

Just a more detailed version of the question:

Why didn't he tell everyone that he was a guy? What will happen afterwards? Since he will most likely be seeing his classmates for a little while after graduation, will probably live at home like a woman due to habit (and out of fear that people from that school will come over), meets someone (or more likely, go out with Takako or Mariya), reunions (disguised as a girl with a girl?), and so on, how is he going to live normally anymore if he is friends from that school anymore?

One more question: what is that green thing at the end of ep 12 credits?

Excellent show. One that deserves a second season!

>> Why didn't Mizuho tell everyone that he is a guy?

He didn't out himself so that he could fulfill his mother's dream and because he didn't have to. As soon as Takako found out, Mizuho was set to out his manliness after the dance. He was set to walk away and answer all questions on the way out, but Takako threw him a curve ball and said she would keep his secret because she was in love with him (her).

There was a key moment between Mizuho and Takako at around Episode 6 (I think). When they were under the tree and she fainted. It was the conversation before that. My theory is that, that was the verbal bond that kept Takako hoping to be with Mezuho.

Plus, the talk Takako had with Mariya in the final episode. Takako relaized she had changed and that having Mizuho around was more important than anything.

If you re-watch the last episode, you'll notice that Mizuho is dancing with everyone as a way to say goodbye. A physical way to say goodbye that is. He saved the last dance for Takako because he felt like he lied to her in the worst way and because he, in his dumb way, had chosen her.

>> How can he play a girl for the rest of his life?

He doesn't. What isn't fully explained is that he begins to let them all know as his stay winds down. They tried to portray that in the end credits, but did a sucky job of it.

I think in the end, the school catches on, but doesn't care. I'm sure at reunions, Mizuho shows up as a guy ... married to Takako. My speculation at least. Maybe I'm just a dreamer though. Maybe they all thought he was a pervert and ban his rump from all class reunions.

Gotta have that second season!

If you want a similar series with a man playing a woman, you should try I My Me Strawberry Egg. The end is different from that anime

I think she wanted to keep the secret for her. And maybe she was thinking about the other girls. It can be quite a shock to learn that kind of things.
