"the city is burning" or "burn the city down" or something and about a city and OH, guess what...it's burning. Not to say that some of these songs aren't rather good, it is just an overly used phrase. Off the top of my head i can think of three songs that use this phrase, but more will come to me later...i notice it alot.
Falloutboy-sophmore slump or comeback of the year.
Scary kids scaring kids-city sleeps in flames.
Adair- barricade the doors.

I think it has something to do with the fact that since the beginning of recorded history people have been predicting the end of the world and the most popular end seems to be going down in flames.
