I am having more bloodwork ordered by my doctor, and he is retesting my testosterone and prolactin levels. (I am a 20 year old female, with a 4 year old child. Not breastfeeding.) I was just diagnosed with PCOS (polycycstic ovarian syndrome) and so the testosterone I understand after researching it, but the prolactin I am confused about. I see that it is tested a lot for people with tumors, but I was never told I have a tumor, or might have one. I do have a large growth, possibly a nabothian cyst, on my cervix which I am having removed sometime next month. He also did a biopsy on my uterus, but I couldn't understand what he told me about the results. (I know, I should have had him explain it to me.) What exactly would these tests be ordered for? I know I kind of answered my own question, but looking for someone maybe with experience with this type of problem? Any information you can provide me will be greatly appreciated! (I tend to worry alot, and feel better hearing personal stories.

Prolactin does not only come from the Mammory glands, it is from the anterior portion of the pituitary gland. This gland is your body's regulator of hormones. It directly effects the hypothalamus in the brain. the Hypothalamus is the regulator of breathing, eating, sleeping, it is in direct relation to the limbic system of the brain which is the Pleasure center of the brain.
I have researched this for you, and to be honest, it would take allot of A and P for you to understand. Bascially, these test are ran to see if levels are high ( prolactin and progestrone) r/t pituitary releasing to much. Or ovaries not releasing enough estrogen, causing more progestrone
I would not be alarmed on the test. You can look up on any website for further understanding.

it fairly is conventional to get a pretend adverse on a being pregnant attempt - some human beings even get fake negatives on the docs workplace. The attempt on the wellbeing care expert is many times as precise using fact the abode attempt, yet there are different issues that ought to consequence interior the adverse consequence. for the reason which you took the attempt interior the nighttime your hCG tiers have been in all probability below once you have been examined on the docs workplace. in case you drank a number of of fluids till now finding out then it ought to have diluted your urine. additionally, if this grow to be the digital attempt then it may in specific situations be fairly much less precise in a manner. The exams with the strains will in specific situations practice fairly faint using fact the hormones are so low, however the line continues to be there so it fairly is a favorable. The digital exams ought to be extra specific of the effective till now asserting "pregnant" or "no longer pregnant", so it ought to require an more advantageous point of hormones. perhaps you took it incorrect? (no longer likely, yet nevertheless a threat) using fact the wellbeing care expert examined your urine and it got here back effective then it skill you're pregnant even inspite of the indisputable fact which you acquire the adverse attempt after. fake positives are impossible (till you examine the attempt after 10 minutes and then there ought to be an evaporation line which will look as though a favorable, yet i'm able to promise you that the wellbeing care expert examine it till now that). so as to get a favorable you need to have hCG on your gadget, which purely shows up while you're pregnant. Congratulations.

there is nothing to be concerned about at all - just have the tests and be happy that your doctor is doing all he/she can to make sure you go forwards and not backwards

also make sure he tests you for hirsuitism (cant spell it sorry)
