A group of six notes in one beat in 4/4 time. In drumline we were trained to call them 6tuplets. They are more like tripolet 16th notes. What is the proper term?

I'm a musician and I was trained to call them sextuplets.

My Dad's an older musician, and he say's its just a variant on triplets.
