Everyone assumes that the answer to climate change is either/or. It isn't. There is a natural cycle of cooling and warming (check out Zachos, Science, April 2001) that has been operating at various amplitudes since there was an atmosphere (more or less). In defense of everyone (including the majority of climate researchers) who thinks that global warming is happening is the point that we are currently at or beyond the peak of one of the warm periods. It really shouldn't be getting much warmer, judging by past climate records. Now we (humans) are superimposing our own signature on top of this natural signal in the form of greenhouse gas emissions. Is this good or bad? Depends on where in the natural cycle we are. The last ten or so interglacials have lasted about 10,000 years before rapidly (geologically) transitioning back into glacial periods (lasting about 90,000 years). We are currently at least 10,000 years into the interglacial. Which is worse? A new glacial period or global warming? I doubt if they will cancel each other out. Not an easy question. What to do? Quit using fossil fuels. Is that going to happen? I doubt it.

Global warming is a fact and this present cycle we are in now began about 20,000 years ago at the end of the last ice age or global cooling cycle .....and man had nothing to do with ... the earth has always had cycles of warming and cooling ...some lasting much longer than others... these cooling and warming cycles are recorded in the geologic record as falls and rises of sea level caused by the freezing or melting of polar ice ...I seriously doubt there is anything we can do that will speed it up or slow it down a measurable amount... but that is no reason to accept pollution of our air and water... we must work harder to clean up pollution for the sake of a clean planet and healthy inhabitants... and if this has a positive effect on the cooling and warming cycles well so be it...

It will stop itself when the cycle is complete; in the 1970's, Scientists said We were headed for another ice age. Now they say We are Warming.

They say the Glaciers are receeding; they are. But what they don't tell you is that while some are receeding; others are growing.

The Earth isn't made of Glass; or it would have ended with Mount St. Helen's which spewed out more pollution than Mankind has for a thousand years.

Don't fall for it.

You need to dig for Independant (Accredited) Scientists that aren't on Al Gore's payroll.

Al Gore has Millions invested in Company's whom's stock is poised to skyrocket when enough people are scared into buying their products.

Politically, It is the only way He has found that gets Him out of his 'bland' persona He is known for and didn't get Him elected last time.

I tend to listen to people who don't have a Vested interest, Political or Monetary.

I wonder how much pollution "An Inconvenient Truth" has created since it was released....hmmm. The oil to make the CD, the trees to make the boxes, all that trash in landfills. Terrible waste of natural resources. Not to mention Al Gore spewing CO2 every time he opens his mouth. Not to mention Gorefarts. Anyway, the earth is warming, we didn't do it, and we can't stop it. Lets just accept that and deal with it.

PEOPLE are SO STUPID to believe that the "current" stage of global warming that we're all in today is just some natural cycle and that it'll stop when it does OR that WE cannot slow or speed it up........because YES WE CAN!!!!

RENT or better yet buy the documentary by Al Gore, "An Inconvenient Truth" You will learn and realize what you need to know about the truth of the future for this planet and US!!

We CAN"T!!!!!!!!!! There is not a$#@%%#&&%^(*&&&%$&mned thing anyone can do to stop, control, change, or "fix" Nature. Nature is best left alone. The sooner everybody realizes this very basic truth, the better off we ALL will be.
Roids!

If it is totally due to natural cycles - nothing.

If it is totally due to our emissions - cut them back.
