The percentage of men on America's college campuses is steadily declining. Research suggests that college women may soon outnumber college men by a ratio of 3:2. What do you believe to be the causes of this trend? Is this a problem for our colleges and universities? For our nation?

Women mature faster. The average girl at 18 has the maturity of the average guy at... oh, 30.

Statistics show that...

-Women are better at multitasking, while men are better at concentrating on a single task (unless something is distracting them)

-Math, Science, and History comes more naturally for men, while Language comes more naturally for women

-Women tend to think longer-term, which may explain higher college attendace, while men often think more clearly about the present

-at the age that most people go off to college, guys are still going through puberty, while women are often coming to a finish; meaning, guys are usually quite a bit less mature at that age. However, at the age that they'll actually be working full-time, men and women maturity levels are pretty even.

So, think about that and figure it out yourselves

There has been a reversal in the long standing bias that men are to attend college and be the breadwinner while women have their place in the home raising children. As our society has encouraged women to excel and take on traditionally male roles, the men have been encouraged to excel in sports and athletics rather than scholastics. I am amazed that women have special celebrations now for best women in high school and colleges (with no corresponding men's recognition).

The society preference of women has reaped it benefits now, more women attend college than men.

Don;t read it any different than that. Where men were encouraged and excelled, now women are encouraged and excel. There is no difference in their college level abilities otherwise.

i know its so wierd 100 years ago women were considered only good enough for cooking cleaning and breeding. but at school ive noticed the majority girls get better grades than boys and take more academic classes, eg. in my legal studies class of 20 there is 3 boys and in my modern history class there is 4....
maybe its just high school and boys dont want to act smart fearing it will damge there macho reputation and be called *gasp* a geek or a nerd......oh well boys will b boys :p

No,Women in this generation are much more mature than their male counterparts over all there are always exceptions. Many young men are losers and do not even think about the future. They would rather play video games. women will rule the world and men will only have themselves to blame.

i believe there just are two different leaques out there and men do tend to be more on the shallow side of things and are easily persuaded and pleasd, but so are certain women in the same feilds, just women prefer things that guys dont and men prefer things that girls dont. men want to go on the football scholarship and make money
women are sensitive and go to college to make a name for themselves in a diffferent feild. colleges will accecpt athletic men and smart women there are just more of one than the other

You're drawing conclusions. Not a good thing since this survey does not do a thorough account on why this is happening. I don't see how this could be a problem. Eh, everyone's an expert until something happens.

As a man i admitt girls are smarter probably because they seem to stay focused better. It also looks better for a man to work in a blue collar job then for a women. I will not settle for blue collar so i strive harder but alot of my friends do not.

I think that the male population is just a little too involved in sports and should instead focus their energies on education.
