To put what the first answerer said into Inglish, the bus wheels are near the center of the bus so the rear end hangs over a good ways multiplying the movement of the rear wheels over a bump....More fun back there anyway.....Nuf Said

I think it has to do with physics.The bus is the effort arm. The people towards the back are farthest away from the fulcrum, or the bump. This creates a greater mechanical advantage, which makes it easier to lift them out of their seats.

the back of the bus doesn't absorb the bumps as much as sitting anywhere else.
