The Puranas speak of four ages of time - Krita Yuga,
Treta Yuga, Dwapara Yuga, and Kali Yuga. The esoteric
texts of ancient Europe also spoke of four ages - the Golden
age, the Silver age, the Brass age, and the Iron age.

The present age is Kali Yuga - the age of darkness.
What you are observing in the world at present is the
characteristic feature of dark age.

The Puranas say that people lived in peace and harmony
during Krita Yuga.

Do you get as much cooperation from persons at the
time of say 3 A.M. as you get at mid-day?

The psychologists speak of 'collective unconscious' -
it has both bright and dark effects. We see its dark
effects during the age of darkness.

Some religions speak of doomsday. Scientists equally
frighten people with opposing theories like global warming
and coming of the ice age:

Hindu astrogers wrote about change of things for better
in about two decades from now. One visioner wrote:

"(In India), good character and culture will be
inculcated in all spheres of life. .... Due to the
scientific progress achieved by India and her increased
amity with America, Indian society will shed its
degenerate culture and become progressive. By 2020,
Indian society would have significantly expanded its
thinking. .... Spiritual books, originating from India,
will become extremely popular and command a global
audience. From 2010, winds of spiritualism will blow
across the entire world, awakening more and more people
in its wake. Where limits of (modern) science end,
spiritualism begins. .... Along with scientific
progress, intellectuals will start recognizing the
importance of spiritualism. .... From 2050, a new era
will begin...."

India is the only country which speaks of higher concepts
like Vasudha Eka Kutumbum (the world is one family),
Loka Kalyaanam (for the good of all in the world),
and Sarva Maanava Soubhratutvam (brotherhood of
all humans).

No, it is basic human nature that compells us to destroy the things around us. Humans are the most destructive animals on the face of the planet.

Societal self destruction is cyclical, although the bigger and more complex the society the harder they fall. The American and global modern societies are sure to self destruct in the future...possibly return us to the stone age in the process.

nope. people haven't changed over the centuries. now that we have the technology to destroy ourselves it won't be long. i'm surprised we've made it this far with only a couple atomic blasts in japan. the end is near whether it be by destroying the environment or some idiot starting a nuclear war.

Absolutely not!!!

Human beings are inherently flawed by design, they destroy each other, themselves, their environment.... everything they come in contact with. Very similar to cancer. Its a war of attrition and we're losing badly.

Enjoy the time that's left and make it count for something!
